Tim, my Tai Chi teacher, instructed us to hold our bodies up straight with our gaze directed straight ahead, so that we might have a wider view of ourselves in relationship to where we stand. He demonstrated how little we see when we look down, seemingly to see where we are going.<\/p>\n
I think this is similar to thinking about education. If we view schools simply as places for learning, rather than places for becoming<\/em>, the view is too small, too restrictive. We need to view schools through a broader lens. When we do this, then children, educators, and parents all work together by becoming better human beings that enjoy growing, integrating, exploring, dialoguing, sharing, thinking.
